What is the history of your hotel?
The hotel was founded in 1926 with the sign “Spanish Steps Pension”, on the initiative of two Swiss sisters. Over time, two other managements followed one another, until 2013, when the owners of the property took over the business. From the initial 14 rooms of the Pension, there was a first transformation, at the end of the 90s, into a 3-star hotel with 16 rooms. Then, from 2014, the hotel began to grow up to 30 units (24 rooms, 5 suites and an apartment), preserving the atmosphere that has always characterized it, of a delightful and charming small hotel that makes you feel like a guest of an elegant private house overlooking the beauties of the city.
Where exactly are you located?
The Hotel Scalinata di Spagna is located at the top of the Spanish Steps, in Piazza Trinità dei Monti, one of the most fascinating places in Rome, from where you can admire the most beautiful view. The historic part, together with the reception, the veranda and terrace, perfect for having breakfast or bar service or for contemplating the sunset over the Roman rooftops, has direct access from the square. From via Gregoriana you can access the panoramic rooms over the whole city and finally from Piazza Mignanelli you can access the Deluxe rooms overlooking the Spanish Steps.
What types of rooms do you have?
The rooms of our hotel are furnished partly in a classic and refined style and partly in a modern and minimal style. All the rooms, not the latest, have undergone recent renovations to adapt them to modern comforts and are equipped with modern private bathrooms.
In addition to the standard and superior rooms, for those who want greater comfort, in the classic style part, some rooms are equipped with semi-panoramic balconies, from which you can have a view of both the roofs and domes of Rome, and very famous glimpses such as the stairs of Piazza di Spagna or have small private terraces.
The modern-style part has both rooms with windows from which you can admire Rome at 180 ° or you can admire glimpses such as the Pincio, and Deluxe rooms with panoramic balconies overlooking Piazza di Spagna, with a view up to Piazza del Popolo. Of particular interest is the Panoramic Suite, with 3 windows and 2 French doors and a panoramic terrace with a breathtaking view of Rome at 270 °, where you can dine by candlelight with Rome at your feet.
All areas have family suites, through connecting rooms.
